Richmond Chinese Community Society (RCCS) is celebrating Canada¡¦s 150th birthday at Lansdowne Centre and Outdoor Plaza on Saturday July 29th, 2017. We are hosting a Richmond Arts and Cultural Festival. Opening ceremony is at 12:30pm inside Lansdowne Centre Stage at Food Court and the event runs from 11:00am ¡V 5:00pm.
We are excited to be receiving grants from the City of Richmond and the Richmond Foundation for this event. We believe art to be a crucial aspect of our lives, as it speaks for our soul. It crosses all boundaries and speaks in one language.
We are hosting an Outdoor Art and Cultural show in our outdoor venue and we are the first organization to utilize the public Outdoor Plaza. It has excellent exposure under the Skytrain gangway cover and is just a few steps north of Lansdowne Skytrain Station.
The celebration extends from outdoor to indoor, where great music and dancing performances will be featured such as Lion Dance, Chinese magical face masks changing, Gu Zen musical performance, Korean traditional drum play, entertaining Japanese taiko, classical Indian dance, fascinating belly dance and a nostalgic fashion show of 1800¡¦s Chinese costumes.
We will also have 40 booths inside Lansdowne mall from organizations including the University of Victoria, Richmond Weavers and Spinners Guild, Richmond Cares Richmond Gives, Lions Clubs International, Richmond Addiction Services Society, Chinese Canadian Military Museum Society, Richmond Society for Community Living, Richmond Multicultural Community Services, Vancouver Hanfu Culture Society, Pathways Clubhouse and more.
This is a free, family-friendly event. Free postcards will be distributed to the public while stock lasts. Everyone also has a chance to win great prizes during the event. COME JOIN US on July 29th!
